Amazing Race!

On the 3rd of October 2012, 1st KL had an Amazing Race around Kuala Lumpur city. After weeks and months of planning, it was finally done and everyone was given instruction to form their own group by themselves. There were even members from 1st KL GB who participated in the race.
Everyone was very excited. All of the members who participated in it were looking forward to a time of fun.

10.00am Before the Race Start, The Committee gave us few instructions.

During the first mission, we are called to memorize our own group code and personal code. After that, we were called to complete the Sudoku in 15minutes.

After completing the Sudoku game, all of us are to hold each other’s hand and walk to the middle of the field in a circular formation.

The head of Amazing Race gave us instruction and it requires a few volunteers to shout and kick the ball into the goal, while the rest are called to run. The kicker is required to kick the ball into the goal at the same time the shouter shouts until the runner reaches the line.

In the next mission, all had to go to Petaling Street and take a group photo with the food and drinks we had. After eating and drinking we went back to Parish Hall and show the organizers the photo that has been taken.

The head of the committee then gave us another clue. We are to go to Pavilion by monorail as the LRT is not allowed in this race.  Therefore, we walked to Hang Tuah monorail station. Due to the large crowd at the station, we had to wait for the second train in order to get everyone in the team in. In the monorail we met another group participating in the race which is Mr Derek’s group.

When we arrived at Pavilion, the clue on the paper is “7 Heaven, Stairway and look for Coffee Bean”. Most of the groups couldn’t find it because there are two Coffee Beans in Pavilion. When we found the location, the Station Master gave us several missions which include counting the number of fountains, searching for clues in a book in the bookstore and counting the number of Japanese shops in Tokyo Street. The next location was the bridge to which links to KLCC from Pavilion. In this mission, we were required to pass messages from the first person in the group all the way to the last.

My group reached Dataran Merdeka and we sat down to catch a breather. The rain also started to pour while we were there. We also realized that the actual destination was not Dataran Merdeka but Stadium  Merdeka instead. Due to the unfortunate error, we decided to take cab back to Stadium Merdeka.

After completing this mission, my group went all the way to Dataran Merdeka.

When we arrived at Stadium Merdeka, we played Ping Pong using paper and folders instead of the actual Ping Pong bat and ball. We also had to work together to fetch a Ping Pong ball on the keychain tied to each one of us for about 50 meters.

The final location for the Amazing Race is at Game Consoles arcade at Time Square. We can choose to play Basket Ball or the Daytona racing game. The objective of the mission at the arcade is to have the most members to beat the game master for the allocated games.
Lastly, we finally got back to church, which is the home base. Everyone felt exhausted after walking around the KL. However, we were happy that we managed to finish most of our tasks. The results of the inaugural Amazing Race was then announced! The winners of the race goes to Group 4!!! They got 1 BIG hamper, a water bottle, and voucher for Kenny Rogers and Starbucks. 2nd Placing goes to Group 6 while 3rd Placing goes to Group 2. My group got 4th placing eventually.

The event was then closed with closing prayer by our Honorary Captain, Mr. Cheong. We also took a family photo of everyone who participated in the race before we go back to our respective homes.
